The Inner Child

This is a copy of something that was posted on the forum I run. I thought it was very well written and an interesting and true observation, so wanted to share it with you...

Quote: The term is "MOOT" not "MUTE"

It's nice to know that some people still have that certain knack when correcting others...

The term is "MOOT" not "MUTE"
I'm not being pedantic, have no desire to bring up spelling errors, punctuation, etc. BUT, it's obvious that you don't even know the word, it's meaning, or anything about it.
In short, you come across as a moron.

MOOT
a. Law. Without legal significance, through having been previously decided or settled.
b. Of no practical importance; irrelevant.

MUTE
a. Unable to speak. b. Unable to vocalize, as certain animals

'nuff said.

London in NY

We woke up this morning and apparently we now live in London. Some kind of Star Trek like teleportation must have occurred last night while we were sleeping, either that or the Brits invaded again!

We opened the blinds this morning to find a Double Decker Bus, and two London Cabs parked outside our apartment on Wall Street. The 2/3 subway line is now the London underground, we have a London Transport bus stop and there is a classic red British Telecom phonebox but of course the "piece d'resistance" is the Union Jack flying in all her glory. Home Sweet Home! View image

All this is in aid of the new "Pink Panther" movie starring Steve Martin. Ah the magic of Hollywood!

Hubba Hubba

Today Mark and I went to Circuit City, and true to form we were like kids in a sweet shop. We actually went because the DVD player in my PC has been on the blink for months, and the time had come for it to be replaced. Naturally the PC parts/accessories section was the last we visited. We did manage to control ourselves and not buy any new 'toys', but we both managed to break our leashes in the DVD section when we saw lots of our favourite movies on sale for $6.99 & $9.99.

The lunatics are running the asylum

From an overheard conversation...

"I was in a previous company that did hawaiian shirt day every friday.
Until HR sent them a notice that they were no longer allowed to do it because it could be considered offensive to Hawaiians and other pacific islanders.."

So it is now official - the lunatics are no longer in the asylum, they're running the damn show.

Sometimes you just have to say what is on your mind!

... in "The American HeritageŽ Dictionary of the English Language", which is of course an oxymoron.

Now repeat after me: "The Oxford English Dictionary is the ONLY accepted reference for English!"
Feel free to write it on the blackboard a few times as well, just to make sure it sinks in.

English is English, "through" is not spelled "thru", "night" is not spelled "nite", and there is no such word as "burglarize". The verb is "burgle".

Of course, you chaps in the colonies can do what you like with your language, but don't call it English ! ;)

Father Time

Well Father Time just won't let up and 32 has caught up with me already! I have to say I had a great birthday this year and I am determined to make 32 my best year yet!

As usual I was spoilt with great company, lots of treats and some fantastic gifts. I must have been a very good girl last year ;) We celebrated no less than three times! The festivities started on Saturday 22nd with a gathering of friends at our home, for an evening of fun and games (literally). We feasted on Tapas and nibbles, washed down with lots of Sangria, then embarrassed ourselves playing Cranium till the early hours. Anyone who wishes to hear the gory details should send cheques or money orders to me and I will happily oblige!

Should you trust your hairdresser?

I think my hairdresser has aspirations to work as a stylist for Cirque Du Soleil. I only wish I had figured this out yesterday before I let him loose on my hair!

I really liked the blonde I have had for the last year, but at heart I am a red-head so I decided to head back down that route (no pun intended). I have been messing with my hair colour for so long now, I have pretty much tried everything at some point mostly with good results but some not so good, like the time I did it myself and it came out pillar box red - no joke!

So Jimmy and I discussed some ideas and all of which sounded good and since he is the "artiste" I let him decide on the final colours. "Strawberry blonde!" he said, "We'll do a nice rich coppery colour all over and then add in some blonde highlights to brighten and some deeper lowlights for some richness." Now doesn't that sound like it would be really nice and suit me very well? Naturally I agreed and off he toddled to mix those wonderful chemicals while I settled in for the long haul and turned to Vanity Fair and Brad Pitt.

It's Official - Vic is Nuts!

I must have some kind of OCD because I was up till 4am last night working on this blog. I just couldn't walk away from it till the configuration was completed. I know I'm nuts, but if I hadn't finished I would have tossed and turned all night dreaming about the unfinished job, so it was the lesser of two evils. Nuts, I tell you!!

New Look New Name

Why the new name "Of Bears and Bull" ?

Now there's a good question! It's just one of those things that popped into my head and seemed to stick. As most of you will know we are a bit loony when it comes to our bears and we live near the New York Stock Exchange where life revolves around "Bear Markets" and "Bull Markets" which refer to the ups and downs of the stock market. So this is my play on that with ups and downs of life. Very profound, I know! *sarcastic grin*. Oh, and of course I do talk a lot of bull sometimes!
