“Of Bears, Bull and Beagles!”

The great outdoors

What a morning! We took Jeremy to the vet this morning for his third shot and a puppy check up. He weighs 12lbs 9oz (14 weeks). The vet said he was doing great, is very healthy and was happy to give him his shot. He said that we need to still avoid direct dog-dog contact for another 2 weeks, and keep him away from nastiness on the streets but said it was OK for us to start taking him outside. Then he told us that we could walk him home!

All three of us had a blast walking back. The first challenge was leaving the vets office... stairs... two sets of 3-4 steps. It took a few minutes of coaxing but the little guy figured them out and clambered down admirably (with an audience from the vets office cheering him on!). It's about a mile and he took it all in his stride, the traffic noise didn't seem to bother him, and of course he loved all the people going "OOOO Look at the cute little puppy!", the only things he didn't like was the wind, and he howled at it a few times! lol and the revolving door into our building, no amount of coaxing would get him in it, so we had to carry him through!

He was such a good boy and we had a great time. He is sleeping now, all the excitement wore him out. Mark and I are already busy planning the route for this afternoon and tomorrows walks! lol

It's so cold here at the moment that the vet instructed us that he must wear a coat outside, just whilst he is so little and not used to going outside. Once he's older he should be able to regulate his temperature better and he won't need it. In the meantime here's a picture of him in his little wax jacket, which we think is just so "Beagle-like" being as they are hunting dogs! lol.
