We went to the vet today because Jeremy had an upset tummy which wasn't very nice to say the least! Whilst we were there they plopped him on the scales and he came in at a whopping 6lbs 9oz. That's a staggering 1lb 2oz he's put on in 11 days! He really is growing like a weed and soon won't be able to fit under the sofa and in all his other favourite nooks and crannies!
His tummy bug is nothing to worry about, just a nasty little parasite that is pretty common in young puppies. A course of meds and he will be right as rain. I was also concerned about his ears which were a bit pongy and very dirty. Ear infections are very common in breeds with long ears and I recognised the signs from my experience with our family Golden Retriever, Sabre, when I was growing up. Again a simple course of ear drops and all will be well.
He was such a good boy, none of the "Beagle Theatrics" that we had on his last visit. A bit of wriggling when the nurse was cleaning his ears, but that is all. I was very proud of him, he took it all in his stride. What a difference 2 weeks makes.
For all that I was presented with a bill for $200.... welcome to the world of pet ownership! Thankfully we took out pet insurance, and judging by this trip we are going to need it! This beagle is costing us a fortune but he's worth every cent!
